TecHalli a good moniker for Bengaluru

It's good that efforts are being made to give Indianised moniker for Bengaluru, which is now called Silicon Valley of India. Halli in Kannada means village. TecHalli is an appropriate name to replace 'Silicon Valley of India' name. But it's more of emotional in nature as the new descriptor doesn't make any difference when it comes to attracting investments and new companies. In 1987, Texas Instruments established its facility in the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) in Bengaluru. It was the first offshore facility of a technology company outside the US. It was also the first successful STPI unit in Bengaluru. Encouraged by its success, other technology companies such as Compaq, HP set up their offshore development centres in Bengaluru. Now, majority of Fortune 500 companies and their R&D centres are in the city. There is a plenty of talent pool available. That makes setting up a technology facility easier in the city.
